According to a report on Telegram.com, Leominster and Fitchburg favorably compared to other “middle cities” when comparing MCAS score improvements.
Middle cities are defines as those “caught between their past as industrial centers and their future and also because they’re caught between Boston and the suburbs, said Maria Ortiz Perez, program manager for the Middle Cities Initiative” according to the report.
While Worcester and Fitchburg performed better than their peer cities, Leominster joined them in substantially decreasing dropout rates at a faster clip than the statewide average for other middle cities.
