August Two-Day fundraiser to raise money for cancer research

07.15.2010 – Gerry Bourgeois, broker-owner of Towne & Country, Realtors, 124 N Main Street, Leominster, will be riding in a two-day bike-a-thon to raise money for a cure for cancer.

He will be riding the Sturbridge-to-Provincetown route in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge on August 7 and 8. This two-day event is the nation’s original fundraising bike-a-thon. It raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country.

As Bourgeois remarked on his PMC site, “Everyone has been touched by cancer in some aspect of their life. The PMC is a great organization that raises lots of needed money for research to help fight, and hopefully end this disease. And it’s good to know that ALL RIDER RAISED FUNDS go DIRECTLY to The Jimmy Fund – so every dollar really counts.”

Gerry began cycling in April of 2009 and has ridden over 2,500 miles over the past year, including last year’s PMC and two Cape Cod Getaways – fundraisers for MS.

Gerry rides with “Team Lick Cancer”. This year, the team has directed the team funds toward research for AT/RT – an aggressive form of brain cancer. There is a very young girl that lives near Gerry that is affected by this disease- you can see her in the video. Starburst has rescheduled for Saturday,August 7th.

Construction at Doyle will require us to use the upper field for the concert. (Fireworks will be set off at tennis courts) Priest Street will be closed to thru traffic from noon onward on the 7th.  Entrance to the field will be at the iron gate by the track, on Green Street, and on Grand Street.
Gates open at 4:30 pm
Starburst Band will begin at 7:00 pm.
Fireworks will be launched at 9:00 pm.

Or how about a Full Moon Hike on Saturday, July 24?

South Monoosnoc Overlook (7:00 -9:00 p.m.)

Dick O’Brien will lead the hike beginning at the Granite St. trailhead to the South Monoosnoc

Overlook. Meet at 7:00 p.m. at the L.H.S. flag pole entrance parking lot.
